Sharing modern, purpose-built facilities on a greenfield site with the Pre-Prep, The Grange Prep provides a vibrant and enriching experience that develops positive habits of and attitudes to learning that last well beyond the transition to Senior School. Our aim is to get the most out of our young people and to help to make sure that each individual gets the most out of all the school has to offer.

Each pupil is challenged and stretched at every opportunity, and emphasis remains on literacy, numeracy and scientific investigation as the best foundations for success. However, plenty of time is still given for creativity in all its forms, for mastering a much wider range than usual of subjects and skills (languages are a feature), and for physical as well as emotional development. The Prep provides an excellent preparation for success in the Senior School Entrance Exam.

Hard working and creative staff produce colourful, imaginative school musical and dramatic productions which strike a balance between the chance for all to take part and the opportunity for the most gifted to shine. All aspects of the curriculum are enriched by trips from school for all year groups, while visitors come to school to teach their special skills. Sports teams are familiar with success in both local and national competitions.

We continue to encourage a well-disciplined ambience, based on respect and care for others, on good manners and on taking responsibility. Older pupils act as ‘buddies' to the youngest members of the community, and are offered leadership responsibilities through the House System. The School Council seeks representatives from all classes to work with the Head of Junior School to improve the school further.
