Sixth Formers celebrated a very impressive collection of the new A* grades when the A-level results were released.
23% of all grades gained were at the new elite level, designed to recognise the very best students. This was more than four times the government's original published expectation. 7students gained A* grades in all their A-levels.
Scoring a 100% pass rate and with over 61% of grades at A or A*, it proved to be another excellent year for the school, 39 students achieving at least 3 A or A* grades. 77% of students taking the new Extended Project Qualification gained an A* award.
Pride of place went to Gareth Wilkes who produced a remarkable performance in Further Mathematics, as well as gaining 4* grades. Gareth, from Cuddington, dropped only 1 mark out of the 1200 available in what is generally considered to be the hardest of A-levels. Gareth, who has just returned from Croatia where he was acknowledged as one of the best 100 young physicists in the world, will go to read Maths at Cambridge in October.
Headmaster Chris Jeffery said "We congratulate Gareth on a truly amazing achievement, as we do all our young people. They have worked so hard to achieve such excellent grades and to open the right door for their future. To see so many rewarded with the new A* grades is really exciting, and we have been really delighted with how very few have found it hard to gain university places, despite the widespread difficulties reported nationally. This is largely a consequence of the hard work and expertise of the staff who have taught, advised and supported them."

GCSE pupils have smashed every previous school record in recording outstanding performances this summer. 58% of results were awarded A* grades, and 87% were awarded either A or A*, with a 100% A-C pass rate.
No fewer than 17 of the 102 students gained a full set of A* grades, with 63 in total scoring nothing less than an A grade.
The Headmaster said "These results represent a phenomenal performance, setting new records in every measure possible. We are deeply proud of the young people who have worked with such commitment and determination to deserve them.
"It's also important to remember that beneath these terrific statistics are very many stories of pupils both achieving and surpassing their potential, thanks to the skill and motivation of their teachers. On average, the quality of teaching and preparation is helping the pupils to add half a grade in each subject to the grades predicted by the benchmarking statistics we use."
