The Physical Education/ Games syllabus is designed to give each student the opportunity to:
• acquire a whole range of skills (physical, mental, moral and social)
• develop skill and competence in a range of sporting and health related aspects,
• acquire knowledge (rules, strategies and tactics) about particular sporting activities.
It is designed to help the physical growth and development of the student but many of the activities promote the building of character and cooperative team work as well as fitness. It is hoped that the student learns the importance of having both a healthy attitude to life and a healthy body, in order for them to be capable of meeting modern life’s many physical (as well as mental) stresses and demands.
The students should feel the experience of performing activities to the best of their ability and that this should be their aim in all participation. It is hoped that through the very wide range of activities offered in the syllabus, each student will find at least one that they can pursue an interest in on leaving school. The students will be assisted to achieve their full potential in each aspect and the education of the “whole person” will be something that will be strived for in all teaching & coaching situations.
