A fantastic eight students from the Upper Sixth have been offered places, to study subjects ranging from History to Architecture, at Oxford or Cambridge University.
After completing their UCAS application forms students must wait to hear if they have been selected for an interview at their chosen university. According to Josh Briegal, who has been accepted to study Natural Sciences at Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge, the interviews were designed to test his technical knowledge to the limit: "The interviews were really tough but I think that was the point; they were trying to find my breaking point," he said.
After the interview stage, the hopefuls face the agonising wait for the fabled letter through the post that tells them whether or not they have been accepted.
"It was an amazing feeling when I got the letter saying I had been accepted, I wanted to wait until I got home from school to open it, but my Mum couldn't wait and had to phone me up!" continued Josh, who is also applying to Imperial College London. "It's a real honour and studying at Cambridge would be a fantastic experience as well as looking great on my CV."
