Grange Award: Celebrating Enrichment

The first pupils to have worked through the Grange Award were presented with their certificates and badges in a special presentation assembly at the end of September. The Grange Award is a new initiative which recognises and celebrates the involvement and achievement of those students who really throw themselves into school life and everything it has to offer - with an emphasis on what they do ‘outside of the classroom'.

The initiative is extremely important to the school as it embodies the holistic approach to education that is central to our philosophy and, we believe, is vital in developing rounded, confident and outstanding young people.

In order to achieve a Grange Award, pupils must show significant commitment within five different areas within the school community: Leadership and Active Citizenship, Performance, Physical Activity, Culture and Development of a Skill.

The scheme has been trialled over the last two years with pupils in the First and Second Year. Within the Junior Award there are three levels - Bronze, Silver and Gold. Pupils are able to work towards the Bronze award in First Year and towards the Bronze, Silver or Gold award in Second Year.

In future years, as the programme rolls out, our intention is to have an Inter Award which will be given at the end of Year IV, and a Senior Award to be given at the end of the Upper Sixth.
