Tension-Fuelled Netball

Grange Senior School netball teams were involved in some exciting and high quality matches during the first half of the autumn term, with some notable successes.

Our U16 netball team faced a range of teams from across Cheshire in the North Independent Schools’ Tournament.

They won their first game convincingly, which set the standard for the rest of their matches.  Apart from an exciting, tension-fuelled battle against Alderley Edge School, which resulted in an eventual 5-4 win for the Grange, the girls won every game comfortably, going on to take gold medals and become North Independent School Champions.

Congratulations to Charlotte Lawrence, Molly Archer, Rachel Howard, Summer Law, Emily Clough, Hannah Jones, Tilly Cole and Molly Stokes.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday 15th October the senior Netball team competed in the U19 Cheshire Tournament.  This tournament attracts the best schools in the county with schools from Cheshire being amongst the strongest in the country.

The senior team produced some excellent performances.  They beat Wilmslow 8 - 7 in their first game and this level of incredibly close competition and excitement continued for the rest of the afternoon.

A draw against Upton, was followed by a 9 - 6 defeat against Falibroome, who consistently make national finals, and then a good win against Bishop Heber and two 4 - 3 losses!

It was a very tough and rewarding afternoon in which the girls proved that they can compete with the best the county has to offer.  Well done to Katy Frith, Katie Gerrard, Amy Nolan, Laragh Harvey-Kelly, Helen Owen, Emily Gregg, Charlotte Lawrence, Lily Prior and Maz Rose.
