Where are they now? Tom Ford

The Grange School’s infiltration into elite level rowing continues with Old Roburian, Tom Ford, currently making waves at the top end of the sport.

Since leaving us Tom has pitched camp at Newcastle University where he now stars as part of their rowing team.

After a year of intensive training, Tom’s summer began in spectacular fashion as he, rowing in a crew coxed by fellow Old Roburian Calum McRoberts, pulled of a thrilling win in front of 30,000 spectators at Henley Royal Regatta, convincingly beating Harvard University on the way to victory in the final.

Tom was then selected to represent Great Britain at the U23 World Championships in Varese, Italy where his crew would go on to reach the ‘A’ final.

Then, rowing with his Henley crew, Tom represented Great Britain at the European Universities Regatta in Rotterdam.

We are very proud to report that the crew put in another totally dominant display as they took the Gold medal and became European Universities Champions!

Meanwhile, Tom’s younger sister Emily, just missed out on selection to the Great Britain U23 team in her first year, but was selected to represent GB at the European Universities Regatta where she too took the Gold medal rowing in the women’s eight.  Emily then went on to represent England in Strathclyde at the ‘unofficial’ Commonwealth Regatta where she won a Silver and Bronze medal.
