Christmas Truce Memorial

A design produced by Grange Year III students, Bree Livesey and Keira Holdgate, was chosen to form part of an exhibition displayed at the National Memorial Arboretum in commemoration of the centenary of the famous Christmas Truce between British and German soldiers during World War I.

The national competition was run by the Football Association with shortlisted entries being judged by Prince William and Arsenal star, Theo Walcott.

The girls, who entered the Football Remembers competition on their own initiative after hearing about it from Mr Robson, produced a design which included figures of the soldiers inside a glass sphere, supported by three downturned guns.  The design also includes an inscription of the words “Christmas Truce” in English, German and French.
