Emily continued her ascent through elite level rowing as she scooped two wins as part of a GB U23 women’s four. The two wins were completed with differing combinations of rowers although Emily featured in both.
Peter Sheppard, GB Rowing Team lead on U23s, quoted on the GB Rowing Team website, said: “The U23s… have really moved on a lot over the two days and learnt a lot. It’s all about teaching some of the younger rowers who won’t get the chance to race at the senior Europeans to be winners.”
Emily, who now represents Newcastle University when not competing in GB colours, will be hoping that her performance will be enough to secure her a spot in the GB team for this summer’s World U23 Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
“Emily became an integral part of the Grange rowing club during her time with us, not only through her outstanding performance level but also her willingness to help and inspire the younger rowers in the club. It’s wonderful to hear of her continued success” said Graham Jump, Head of Rowing.
It would seem that Emily’s positive influence has continued into her university career after being recently elected Ladies Captain of Newcastle University Boat Club, whilst fellow Old Roburian, Callum McRoberts, also became Men’s Captain!
