Extra seats had to be put out to accommodate the very large audience for Wednesday’s school Christmas concert in the theatre. This was a chance for our instrumental ensembles to be put through their paces, and the audience enjoyed performances from the school orchestra, the swing band, the string ensemble, the brass band and the training orchestra. In addition, festive items were provided by the drama club, the musical theatre club and some individual performers. Molly Archer spoke eloquently about the current school charities, and the closing collection raised £592.
Members of Cantores Roborienses Seniors and The Grange School Swing Band were out in force last Friday evening, performing to a full Northwich Parish Church. The occasion was a Christmas concert in support of local charity Age UK Cheshire. The choir performed a selection from its Christmas repertoire with music by Palestrina and Harold Darke, while the band’s offerings included an Eighties medley and the hauntingly beautiful Huron Carol. The event raised £1300 for the charity.
