Rugby Teams through to Cheshire Finals

After winning stirring qualifying matches, both the U14 and U16 Rugby teams have made it to the Cheshire Schools finals.

The U14 team made it through via a convincing 44-12 semi-final victory against Woodchurch School.  A man of the match performance by Oliver Fleetwood, who dominated the midfield scoring three tries in the process, gave the players confidence and belief required to launch wave after wave of attacks. The Grange side will now go on to play Bramhall High School in the final.

The U16s’ won through to the final in a rather different, though no less rousing, match against Fallibroome.  In atrocious conditions the Grange team fought their way to a 15-10 win thanks to a penalty from Matt Bate followed by a close range converted try from the second row powerhouse, Max Ure. As the hail came down Fallibroome came back into the game with a breakaway try before Cameron Browne crashed over from short range, injuring himself in the process.  Fallibroome then scored a try from a penalty but the Grange held out to win.

Both teams will contest their finals on Wednesday 9th December.
