Year III Senior School students John Young and Seb Paisley and Year II students Abigail Knox and William Powell, emerged as winners of the regional final of the Maths team competition held in Stockport in March.
Although in the top five after the group competition and again after the crossnumber, it was a close call as to whether they could maintain their position after one disastrous set of questions in the shuttle round. However, during an intense 45 minutes of relay problem solving, involving plenty of running as well as brain work, they pushed themselves on to do well in this final round and, much to their surprise and delight, they emerged as victors.
“This is one of the best team efforts I have seen from The Grange and I am sure their enthusiasm will see them do well at the National finals to be held in London in June. Well done!” said Maths teacher, Miss Janson.
