The team showed great commitment in the lead up to the National finals - putting in extra training on Saturday mornings and after school.
The day of the tournament was amazing in both play and atmosphere. A good warm up and hour ahead of the start meant the girls were set up and ready. We had fantastic support from parents and, incoming Head, Mrs Leonard, which was a lovely surprise for the girls.
They started the tournament well with a draw against St George’s which could have been even better had the cross bar not denied Beth Alexander goals twice in the game. This was followed by a stunning win over Trent, but a slow third game ended in a disappointing loss. It was all down to our last game in the first round against Millfield - a tough team to finish with. A stunning performance from Beth Alexander, Ericka Morris Adams and Kenzie Weir produced the best game of the tournament for The Grange with a 4 – 1 win making victory seem easy!
We were now placed in a playoff against The Elms for fourth and third place. A 1-1 draw meant that we had to go to flicks, a horrible way to finish a tournament. It was always going to end in tears for one of the teams, and unfortunately it was The Grange. Let us not forget the fantastic hockey that was played to get us to the final and what a stunning achievement it is to be placed fourth in the country!
