Exploring Port Sunlight

Prep 6 pupils visited Port Sunlight, the Wirral village built by William Hesketh Lever to house the workers in his Lever Brothers soap factory, where they learned about how British companies began to take an interest in employee welfare.
As part of the experience, pupils dressed up in period costume, had a go at soap making, explored the museum, and discovered the village with an activity trail.
Lever provided his workers with decent and affordable houses, amenities and welfare provisions that made their lives secure and comfortable and enabled them to flourish as people.
