Space Exploration

The Grange Junior School has been awarded the Space Education Quality Mark (SEQM) bronze award - an award given to schools that have shown significant use of the context of space to enrich the curriculum.

In order to be considered for the award, the school submitted evidence from each year group to show how space is used as a cross curricular theme for learning. This evidence ranged from space themed role play in Reception; completing ESERO astronaut training in Year 3; and designing Mars landers and visiting Daresbury laboratories in Year 5.

In Year 6 the theme of space is incorporated into the Junior School Curriculum Award; in Science children complete challenging activities using the Royal Society of Chemistry resource, Mission Starlight, in which they investigate how to protect us from harmful UV rays, whilst in Music they complete a unit of work based on Holst’s planets compositions.
