Psychology is the study of the mind and behaviour. Over the two year course we will study how memory works,
how children develop and the applications this has in education, why people conform to social norms, how human language has developed and communication in non-human animals. Students will also study the structure of the human brain, how the nervous system works and the causes and effects of mental health problems.
We will look at how Psychologists conduct their research and analyse results using statistical tools and will evaluate many psychological studies. We will try to replicate some of these studies on a smaller scale within school. To excel in the subject you will need a sound understanding of Biology and Maths. You will be assessed at the end of the two year course with two examination papers containing a range of question types.
