Applications for Sixth Form can be made throughout the year, you can apply by completing and submitting an application form. Should you wish to request a school prospectus, the application form will be enclosed.
Once we have received your application, you will be invited to attend one of our Sixth Form Insight Days which take place in the Autumn and Spring Terms. This day is a formal part of the assessment process for entry into The Grange Sixth Form.
During the course of the day, students and their parents will have the opportunity to get a more in-depth look at The Grange. Parents are offered a tour of the school after a short talk by the Head. Applicants are then interviewed by both the Head and Head of Sixth Form, followed by the opportunity to speak with existing students (including those who have themselves joined at 16). The Heads of Department from the candidates chosen A Level subjects meet with the students over lunch for a brief interview to assess suitability for the course. Students will also attend up to 2 lessons in prospective A Level subjects in the afternoon.
The school will assess both the aptitude and attitude of all candidates with a view to making an offer of a place, where appropriate based on their performance on the day, reference from current school and predicted examination results.
Offers are made soon after Insight Days. A firm commitment to accept the offer is required before we can factor an individual’s needs into our timetabling, and thus ensure we offer them the combination of choices they seek.
