However, the Sixth Form does much more than arm young people with the grades that they need to progress to the university course or career of their choice. It provides them with many opportunities to broaden their outlook. They are encouraged and expected to participate generously in the school's enrichment programme and to exercise leadership (as prefects; as mentors to younger pupils; and within extra-curricular activities, especially the House System). These are all things that top universities and employers are increasingly valuing as they select from so many able students.
The Grange Sixth Form is a challenging and enriching environment. Students make a telling and valued contribution to the life of the school so that, at the end of their Upper Sixth year, they are ready to move on, but sad to be leaving - the very best response to their years at The Grange!
Demand for places at The Grange Sixth Form has grown over recent years, both from other independent and, increasingly, maintained schools. As well as attendance at one of the Sixth Form Insight Days, offers are based on the expectation that candidates will achieve an A* or A grade in those subjects that they wish to take further (or, if those subjects are new, in an equivalent subject e.g. Geography for Economics), and a minimum of a B grade in any further subjects.
Places will be offered only on receipt of a confidential report from the applicant's current school. We encourage all prospective students to attend our Open Morning in September if possible, but it is by no means necessary to have done so.
Vacancies do arise from time to time for places in other year groups in both the Junior and Senior School. Please contact Admissions for more information.
