A Level Curriculum Reform

Entering Sixth Form is an exciting time and the new curriculum at The Grange brings a new dimension to this. The final two years of a student’s education develops an intellectual curiosity and encourages independent working habits, whilst being taught by teachers with a real passion for their subject who will encourage academic ambition.

Exciting, stimulating and relevant to the demands of the modern world: The Grange School Sixth Form curriculum has been carefully planned to fully support the needs of our students. These needs are diverse and therefore the concept of flexibility – a curriculum which is tailored to the individual – lies at the core of our academic programme.

At the heart of the curriculum are the three subjects that students will study in a linear style over two years. However, it also is possible to study four A Levels. To meet the increase in challenge and content in the new A Levels the contact time with teachers has risen from 15 periods a cycle to 17 periods per subject in the Lower Sixth.

Some features of our outstanding Sixth Form are not changing, including our proud commitment to enabling students to do the precise A Level option combination that they favour and ensuring that our teaching groups are among the smallest in the area, with an average class size of just 8.
