Sport

Our aim is to help our children fall in love with sport and to understand its importance when developing friendships, resilience, sportsmanship and promoting physical activity to aid our lifestyle and wellbeing.

HERE AT THE JUNIOR SCHOOL, children are actively encouraged to participate in a wide range of sports during P.E. and Games lessons, as well as an extensive enrichment programme during lunchtimes and after school.

All children from Year 3 onwards are given opportunities to represent The Junior School in inter-school fixtures and All children have several opportunities to represent their House in Cross-Country, Football, Netball, Athletics, Cricket, Rounders and Swimming events throughout the academic year.

Our pupils, from Reception up to Year 6 develop confidence and skills in a wide range of sports that include netball, football, hockey, athletics, cross country, gymnastics, dance, rugby, basketball, tennis, swimming (Years 3-6), rounders, cricket and golf (Year 5 and 6).

Sport is at the forefront in all that we do at The Junior School and it teaches our children the core values that we share across the whole school.

We have a “Sport for All” philosophy, but also look to stretch and provide challenges for our more able children. We regularly achieve success in ISA Sport Competitions, leading to national champions in swimming and athletics and in AJIS Competitions, made up of many of the leading Independent Schools in the North West.

Our children demonstrate a keen enthusiasm for the sports we explore and enjoy the challenges they face.
