Senior School Life
Our priority in Year 7 is ensuring a smooth transition of students into the Senior School.
WE RECOGNISE WHAT A BIG step it is from Junior School. Whether students are moving up from our own Junior School, or joining The Grange community from elsewhere, we support them as they settle into life as a senior. Our excellent pastoral team are always on hand for advice and guidance.
Around three weeks into their first term, all Year 7 students head off a residential trip to Bewerley Park. They take part in a range of activities all the time getting to know each other better, team building and generally having lots of fun. They return with their confidence boosted and friendships blossoming. It really helps the year group bond setting the stage for their Senior School life.
I was nervous about fitting in, but this trip really helped me feel more confident. Spending time with everyone made me realise how quickly I can make new friends, and now I really feel like I belong.Yr 7 student |
Our Senior School students spend their first three years engaging in a varied well-balanced curriculum. Students make a choice of two modern languages from a choice of French, German and Spanish) and Science is taught as a combined subject in Year 7. Students then study Biology, Chemistry and Physics separately from Year 8. In Year 10 students choose 9 subjects for GCSE including Maths, English Language and English Literature.
All students are encouraged to take part in enrichment activities every lunchtime. We believe this helps to nurture friendships across the year groups and fosters a sense of belonging as like-minded young people share their interests.

House SystemUPON JOINING THE GRANGE SCHOOL students are placed into one of our four houses: Bollin, Dane, Gowy or Weaver. The House system provides the opportunity for friendly rivalry and healthy (but also hard fought) competition! Every Thursday lunchtime sees a variety of House competitions and once a year (alternating between House Drama and House Music) students put on a show for their peers and parents. The most recent victors were Bollin back in January. |
