Our sports teams compete in hundreds of fixtures throughout the year, regularly playing county, regional, and national finals.

Experienced coaches work hand in hand with our specialist staff, guiding and supporting students in their chosen disciplines to the very best they can.

Sports Tours are organised for students each year with the most recent trips going to Dubai and Italy.

Rowing at The Grange

THE GRANGE SCHOOL ROWING CLUB has an enviable reputation and hugely popular. Students as young as 10 and 11 are introduced to rowing in Year 6, starting off solely on the ergs (rowing machines).

At the end of Year 8 students head onto the water for the first time before increasing their river-based training as they progress. The Senior School Sports Centre house 23 Concept 3 ergs and boasts a newly refurbished strength and conditioning suite both of which support our rowers’ water-based training.

The Grange School Rowing Logo

Starting back in 1985 with just a handful of pupils and two boats it has grown to a vibrant and successful club of over 150 pupils, 14 coaches and, 70 boats with a boathouse located on the stunning River Weaver.

Often hailed as the ultimate team sport, rowing offers students a special combination of physical, mental, and social advantages. Our rowing club recognises the valuable discipline and camaraderie cultivated through this sport, which can greatly contribute to a student's holistic growth.

I am proud that our club is the epitome of The Grange School values

Meet the Coach
Introducing James Parry

James’ background in coaching comes from working at the Liverpool FC academy for several years. He coached the Liverpool FC U16 and U18 teams, helping to develop seven players who have played as professionals in the English Premier League. James’ Liverpool FC U18 team also reached the FA Youth Cup Final. After leaving Liverpool FC James was headhunted to coach elite players in Los Angeles where he worked with hundreds of junior and senior school aged children. The highlight of James’ time in California was coaching two players who have now represented the USA men’s football national team.
