Sustainability
Here at The Grange we are acutely aware of the impact our decisions have on our young people, how that may impact their behaviours in the future, and in turn the local, national and global community.
IN PARTICULAR, OUR CONSIDERATION TO sustainability is visible throughout the school environment. We appreciate that our approach to sustainability must inspire our students to view sustainability as a necessity, and as an opportunity: an opportunity for concerted change on our planet and for the personal satisfaction that comes from being a part of that change.
We are encouraged by our students who regularly challenge us on how we manage waste, use power, generate power, minimise or eliminate single use plastics or further reduce our carbon footprint. |
You will see from our most recent annual report that through the introduction of improved building management systems, we have been able to reduce our power consumption by over 20%. Since this achievement, we have installed photovoltaic cells with a capacity of more than over 100kWp across our junior and senior school sites, so expect this trend to continue. Single use plastics have almost been removed, and through master-planning, we can ensure sustainability measures are built in.
Sustainability education is recognised as a pivotal enabler to bring about the transformative change needed to address the environmental and related social challenges we face today, and we are focussed on ensuring that our future generations, who have spent time at our School, share our commitment to leaving the world in a better place.
