The Grange School: Project Gambia
At our farewell ceremony on Sunday, Max and Zoe spoke on behalf of our group after we gave some gifts of stationery and school equipment, including the organ vest which was used in the Biology lessons during the week, to the school.
Max and Zoe’s Speech
We hope that says thank you for welcoming us to your school – this week has been an amazing experience for us; spending time with all of you has been a privilege and a pleasure.
Especially after the pandemic, the coming together of our two communities is an important and meaningful thing. It shows that the bond between Darul Akram and The Grange is stronger than ever.
From the first welcome ceremony to today it ha been a joy to spend time with all the pupils. We want to thank them for their enthusiasm and energy that has made us so appreciative of our time here, allowing us to make friends and connections that I’m sure will stay with all of us.
We’d also like to extend our thanks to Mr Njie and all the teachers for helping to organise things and with translation during the lessons. Your work with the students is so impactful and important, we’ve seen this week how the dedication of the teachers provides the education that is so vital for the future of the children.Thank you also to the parent committee who were here to welcome us on the first day, we are grateful for this and recognise and thank you for all your efforts for the school. |
We’d also like to say a quick thank you to our teachers, Miss Parry (Tirry), Mrs Horsley and Mr Lambard for their support; their help r with this two has allowed us to be here today so they deserve a round of applause.
Another thank you to Alagi for everything he has done, without his presence this project would definitely not be as successful as it is, or whole team is so thankful for all the time he has spent with us.
I think the large number of people we have to thank demonstrates how significant the link between our schools is, with contributions from so many people that allow us to support and connect with each other mean it truly is a special thing to be part of.
This link lasts not only for the days we are at the school but for the whole year; knowing there is that link despite being on different continents is a really wonderful thing. So, thank you. ABARAKA! |
