Surrounded by the industrial scenery the competitors were faced with a rather large obstacle to avoid; just metres before the finish of the 500m course a large navy ship was parked to the side of the river, making for an interesting change to the usual boats seen along a rowing course.
Unfazed the rowers finished the day with a number of outstanding performances. The Junior 14 boys’ quad consisting of Oliver Goodman, George Oglesby, Brad Strickland-Baker, Harry Barker and Morgan Gray, as well as the second boy’s crew consisting of Rory Webster, Sam Thorington, Seb Paisley, Jack McGinn and Phoebe Smith both came home with comfortable wins in their events.
The Junior 14 girl’s crew, consisting of Abi Higgs, Abbie Jessop, Holly Chambers, Maddie Brougham and Naomi Hall also secured a comfortable win in their final by 2 feet!
