Food and Nutrition

Food is very much a hot topic and our innovative course at The Grange helps students to develop life skills enhancing their health and wellbeing.

Food and Nutrition Curriculum

Students explore topics such as nutrition, food safety, food choices and dietary needs/preferences, food provenance and food around the world. Throughout this creative course, students will make an array of dishes, enabling them to master a high level of culinary skills and developing a love for preparing and eating what they have made.

Food and Nutrition is taught to all Year 7 and 8 students over a 16 week period with 3 double lessons every fortnight.

Facilities

We have a purpose built teaching kitchen for practical lessons with a workstation for each student. We pride ourselves on small class sizes, with about 12 students in every group. Our teachers are highly qualified and experienced food specialist teachers; all available to give plenty of one-on-one guidance and support.

Enrichment

There are numerous enrichment opportunities available for all ages of students including a lunchtime Cookery Club for Junior & and Inter students and a University Survival Cookery Club for the Sixth Form. We have House Cookery competitions throughout the year as well as a Fairtade Bake Off during Fairtrade Fortnight.

Come and join us and be the next Masterchef!
